Record Rise in Graduate Unemployment Shows the Importance of Aptitude Test Practice

Practice for aptitude tests to gain the best advantageThe headlines plastered all over the front of the UK papers this morning indicate that graduate unemployment is at its highest level for over a decade, having gone from around 10% graduate unemployment before the recession to around 20% or one in five graduates being jobless now.

This says that more needs to be done by companies and the government to get young people, particularly those who have been well educated and are well qualified but maybe do not have the work experience into employment. But it is also worth looking at what graduates and other young people can do to help themselves.

This website is all about aptitude tests, and it is growing rapidly because of the increase in the need for knowledge about aptitude tests as more and more companies make them a required part of the job selection process. It is becoming clear that some of the best potential candidates for roles are never getting to stake their case to potential employers in face-to-face interviews or assessment centres because they are falling down at the crucial stage of the aptitude or psychometric reasoning test(s).

The resources are there for these candidates. PracticeSHLTests.com has a wide range of information and we are attemping to grow that information base daily, but we do not claim to be the answer to everyone's problems. There are some fantastic other websites out there with a wide range of resources on individual companies and lots of information about preparing for aptitude assessments.

The number one thing candidates can do to benefit themselves though is take practice tests. Even if it costs them ten or twenty pounds, that money is an investment in the person's future as aptitude tests are something they are likely to come up against time and again in today's employment world. That small amount of money and the knowledge gained in learning how to tackle tests by companies such as SHL, PSL / Kenexa and Cubik's could be the difference in gaining a job or remaining in the unemployment line.

If anyone wishes to take some practice tests after reading this, we recommend the wide range of practice aptitude reasoning tests available at the Assessment Day website. But the most important thing if the person reading this is a job-seeker, graduate or not, is to practice. It can and will make all the difference.
